Unraid OS 7.2.0-rc.1 Now Available
We’ve hit a major milestone in the Unraid 7.2 cycle: Release Candidate 1 is now live . This update builds on the work from earlier betas, bringing stability, polish, and the final round of refinements before 7.2 goes stable.
What’s New and Noteworthy
Unraid 7.2 introduces major new features alongside significant fixes and refinements. Here are some of the the highlights:
Responsive WebGUI
The entire interface now adapts automatically to any screen size, making Unraid fully usable on phones, tablets, and desktop monitors.
Built-in Unraid API
The API is now part of the OS itself. It powers the new Notifications panel and lays the foundation for more in-GUI integrations and automation. Check out some of the community-driven features already being built.
RAIDZ Expansion
Grow single-vdev ZFS RAIDZ1/2/3 pools one drive at a time without taking your array offline.
Expanded Filesystem Support
Unraid now supports Ext2/3/4, NTFS, and exFAT in addition to XFS, BTRFS, and ZFS—making migration and drive reuse more flexible and convenient.
SSO + OIDC Login
You can now sign into the webgui with your Unraid.net account or any OIDC provider.
Dashboard & WebGUI Enhancements
- CPU usage stats now come from the API
- New Notifications management view (bell icon)
- Force Install button for plugins
- Countdown timer on login lockouts
- Open Terminal tool added under Tools
- Numerous fixes to alignment, popups, and dark mode
VM & Networking Improvements
- Virtual sound card support in VMs
- Better multi-monitor support
- VM Manager now warns if PCI hardware assignments change
- Docker IPv6 custom networks now support ULAs
Miscellaneous
- eMMC support added
- Thunderbolt devices auto-authorized when connected
- Safer local login required for http://localhost. This improves security and allows Tailscale Funnel to work with the webGUI.
Deprecated Filesystem Warnings
The Main page now alerts you if drives are formatted with ReiserFS (deprecated in 7.3) or older XFS versions (to be retired by 2030), so you can plan ahead.

Known Issues
- Incompatible Plugins: Theme Engine, Dark Theme, and Dynamix Date Time will be automatically uninstalled, along with outdated versions of Unraid Connect.
- Please update all plugins, especially Unraid Connect and the NVIDIA driver, before upgrading.
- Some plugins may still show visual issues with the responsive webGUI. Please give plugin authors time to update.
