Unraid OS 7.1.0-rc.2 Now Available
Due to a kernel regression, we have pulled 7.1.0-rc.2 from distribution while we work on a corrected build.
2.26.25 Update:
We have identified a kernel regression that causes Docker and/or VM Manager to hang when their loopback image files (docker.img or libvirt.img) are stored on a ZFS volume. This issue occurs due to changes in kernel behavior affecting loopback devices on ZFS-backed storage. Out of an abundance of caution, we have pulled 7.1.0-rc.2 from distribution while we work on a corrected build.
We’re nearly there! 🎯 This release focuses on refining the overall user experience, enhancing performance, and implementing the final fixes before 7.1 reaches stable.
Whether you're testing WiFi, managing VMs, optimizing your array, or diving into diagnostics, rc.2 delivers a smoother, more reliable Unraid experience across the board.
Here’s what’s new in rc.2:
Storage Improvements
- Mover: Now only moves top-level folders that have a matching share.cfg file when emptying an array disk.
- Mover bug fix: Resolved an issue that prevented the list of unmoved files from displaying properly.
Networking Enhancements
- WiFi: Prefer WPA3 when both WPA2 and WPA3 networks are available.
- WPA3 Enterprise: Improved support for WPA3 Enterprise networks.
- WireGuard: Resolved an iptables configuration issue that could prevent some tunnels from starting.
VM Manager Updates
- Cleaner Setup: Removed the confusing "Path does not exist" message when setting up the VM service.
- GUI Mode for VMs: Unraid VMs can now boot directly into GUI mode when using the QXL video driver.
WebGUI Improvements
- File Manager and SMB Settings: Style fixes for a cleaner experience.
- Dashboard Stability: Prevent corrupted config files from breaking the Dashboard.

- File Manager: You can now copy files from a User Share directly to an Unassigned Disk mount.
- Docker Setup: Removed confusing "Path does not exist" message during Docker service setup.
- Dashboard Reloads: Dashboard and Main pages automatically reload when becoming visible — but will not reload if a dialog is open or an OS update is in progress.
Diagnostics Improvements
- User Anonymization: Further improved anonymization of usernames in diagnostics.
- Multibyte String Handling: Diagnostics no longer fail if multibyte characters are present in syslogs.
